The Orgelpark on the radio

Kate Moore

The Concertzender (Concert channel) will soon broadcast the concert Herz Cycle, a portrait of composer Kate Moore. Australian-Dutch Moore (37) is one of the significant composers of her generation. She presented several highlights from her oeuvre in the Orgelpark on May 20th, including The Open Road, Herz Cycle and The Dam

Despite creating about 86 compositions, Moore calls writing music 'a mystery': "I start with some material – whether it's at the piano or in my head – and start moving it around. Rearranging it, until things start to enter into a dialogue. It is like a mound of sand you glide through with your fingers; patterns arise and shapes are drawn from them. Something comes to life."

You can find an extensive interview with Kate Moore in Timbres 21. The definite air date of the broadcast will follow soon.
