The Amsterdam Marimba Weekend

The Orgelpark opens its doors for the sixth edition of the Amsterdam Marimba Weekend and will be the scene of unique collaborations, workshops, renowned top musicians, world premieres and stars of the future for two days.

 

The varied program stars several prominent international performers, including Marta Klimasara, Adélaïde Ferrière, Rachel Xi Zhang, Tatiana Koleva and Nick Woud.

Especially for the festival, Nick Woud (former timpanist of the Concertgebouw Orchestra) has composed a trio piece for two marimbas and timpani that will be premiered this evening. The international trio ‘Machine à trois’ of Rachel Xi Zhang will share their new music for marimba, piano and vibraphone.

Following the tradition, the AMW will presents  the new up and coming marimba talent in the again Tomorrow's Stars concert: Tomasz Herisz (Polen), Sung-En Chi (Taiwan) en Cheuk Hin Keith Ng (Hong Kong).
