Amsterdam Marimba Weekend: SYNERGY OF WOOD - World premieres & Celebrations

Amsterdam Marimba Weekend concert, 14 March 2026, 20:15

Every two years, the Orgelpark hosts the Amsterdam Marimba Weekend, a series of concerts and workshops showcasing new music for marimba, related percussion instruments, also featuring the organ.

The modern marimba has a young history. In its current version it has only been on the concert stage for a little over a century. Consequently, the initial repertoire consisted mainly of arrangements. Therefore, the AMW offers a platform for newly composed music for the marimba, with the ambition to extend and contribute to the repertoire.

Tonight’s concert brings 3 world premieres, and specially dedicated compositions and arrangements.
