Capella Pratensis performs Jacob Obrechts breathtaking Missa Maria Zart, described by musicologist Rob Wegman as 'The Sphinx'. It is seen as a masterpiece within the French Flemish polyphony. In this performance the monumental piece is presented with improvised arrangements of Gregorian proprium chants, accompanied by Wim Diepenhorst on organ. Capella Pratensis' eight singers stand closely together around one choral song book, creating the sounds and atmospheres of the renaissance, resulting in a flexible performance, deeply rooted in historical practice.
