The 2026 edition of the Organ Music Course will take place on Tuesday afternoons, March 3, 10, 17, and 24, from 2:15 PM to 4:45 PM. This year's theme is an introduction to a new philosophy surrounding the theme of "situationality," the core of which is that sound (and therefore music) exists only for a specific time in a specific place, and then no longer—something organs demonstrate to us like no other instrument. Reducing sound and music to something abstract, which we do simply by speaking of "Bach's Toccata" or "Beethoven's Fifth," is at odds with this. We will explore what popular thinkers like Donna Haraway and Salomé Voegelin have to say on the matter, but we are especially curious about what organs themselves have to say on this subject. After all, aren't they the most important source of knowledge in this discussion? In between, we refresh our memory with all the knowledge we've previously acquired during the course – and as always, there's plenty of time and space for questions and discussion.
The course is exclusively accessible to Guest Friends of the Orgelpark.
