In 1925, the Hamburg writer and organ builder Hans Henny Jahnn initiated a so-called Orgeltagung. The focus was on the preservation and restoration of the monumental Arp Schnitger organ in the Hauptkirche St. Jacobi in Hamburg. The preserved organs in Hamburg and Lübeck inspired composers to write new music for these old instruments and profoundly influenced the interpretation of old music. In addition, you will hear romantic choral works.
