BUILDING ORGANS IN THE 21ST CENTURY
The first International Orgelpark Symposium was organized in close cooperation with the International Society of Organ Builders (ISO); more specifically with its board members Kristian Wegscheider and Gerhard Grenzing. Both are established world-famous organ builders, one located near Dresden in Germany, the other in El Papiol, Spain.
A quote from the invitation letter: 'A very exciting and new aspect of the Orgelpark is that it will manifest itself not only as a concert venue, but musicologically as well. It seems that we will focus on two main themes first: the art of improvising and the esthetics of organ art. This of course is inspired by our mission: we aim to find new friends for the organ, so it might be helpful to investigate what makes organ music interesting. The Orgelpark Research Program will not only be active ‘invisibly’, but will express itself of course by a large symposium each year. In additional, we plan organizing smaller one-day-colloquia.'
