Music as installation art

Orgelpark Research Report #2 presents the inaugural lecture with which Hans Fidom accepted the Orgelpark-founded Chair Organ Studies at VU University, Amsterdam, on May 24th, 2011. The Report includes music and film fragments in order to demonstrate how one score (in this case by Max Reger) can result in three rather different "musics". Since the appearance of musics apparently depend strongly on the time and space coordinates they are performed in, the hypothesis is that any performance consitutes an artwork in itself, positioning musicians as artists, and listeners as pivotal in deciding whether musics are convincing.

The three possibilities for reading this Report can be found at the right of this page. These include: online (with audio), offline (without audio) and on papier. To receive the paper version, you will be asked to fill in a form.
